Dr. Tim Forssman was born and raised near Kyalami in Johannesburg, and on the family farm. He attended the University of the Witwatersrand where he obtained is undergraduate, honours and masters degrees.
Tim then went onto study his PhD through the University of Oxford. His specialties are Bushman studies, the Later Stone Age and rock art. Tim is also co-author with Lee Gutteridge of Bushman Rock Art: an interpretive guide and sole author of Beyond the Dripline: Later Stone Age changes on the Greater Mapungubwe Landscape. During most of his studies Tim has been guiding at archaeological sites, including at the Sterkfontein and Mapungubwe World Heritage Sites, and he has run a number of trips through northern South African focusing on the region’s archaeological past. Tim is an extremely passionate and enthusiastic guide and student of archaeology.
