The graceful giraffe is represented in many forms in southern African rock art, but this example from the Northern Limpopo is a particularly beautiful example. The giraffe is said to be able, in bushman mythology, to control the weather. In fact the spot patterns are believed to represent various cloud types, specifically cirrocumulus and altocumulus, according to Megan Biesle, a prominent researcher.
